LAI- Inaugural event “Wembley Park the new normal”
Our first major event was a real turning point as we decided to focus on Wembley as an emerging new place in London with a fascinating story to tell about international investment, public and private sector partnerships, cultural placemaking and the speed and pace of delivery that comes from building to rent (as well as the quality of public realm and social infrastructure).
We were delighted when the top team from developer Quintain, including their CEO, head of master planning, head of culture and project. And project lead all agreed to join a panel. Even better when a new member, Daniel Horner, offered their new headquarters at 150 Hoban as a venue for the event to take place. Here’s a short film we made which captures the key. takeaways and spirit of the event.
This event helped us focus minds on the value that LAI can bring, and we developed this mission statement specifically for the London Chapter;
The Lambda Alpha International (LAI) London Chapter brings together experienced senior professionals, recognised for making an impact in the fields of real estate and land economics. LAI is a global land economics society with chapters in major cities throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Asia with over 2000 members who meet regularly, including a Land Economics Weekend in different cities annually. Membership is by invitation only, enabling us to curate a diverse and multi-disciplinary forum to drive the agenda forwards. London is a hothouse of ideas, where new models disrupting the real estate investment and development status quo are continually emerging. The LAI London Chapter is perfectly placed to shape these emerging practices, through the soft power and influence of it’s members and the exchange of ideas and best practice.
