Members Speak Up for New 2021 LAI Programs

A big thank you to the 158 responses to our recent 2020 Program Survey. The graph below summarizes the top 12 topic choices, all of which received interest from more than 60% of respondents. We see this as strong support for LAI International to develop more webinar sessions on cross-chapter topics, with some good direction to the ad-hoc committee on specific areas of interest. Second, there was also an excellent response on suggestions for thought leaders for future presentations.
The top five topics, receiving roughly equal interest from 79%-88% of respondents, will be the first focus for the ad hoc program committee:
– Is there a long-term shift out of centres, into suburbs?
– Economic forecast update
– Impact of Covid-19 on the Real Estate market
– Lessons learned during the shutdown
– Future of office space demand and use
We see this as strong support for LAI International to develop more webinar sessions on cross-chapter topics, with some good direction to the ad-hoc committee on specific areas of interest.
Second, there was also an excellent response on suggestions for thought leaders for future presentations.
There was also rich response to the open-ended ‘Other topics’ question, that we plan to work with in the coming months.
Two that several respondents touched we summarize as: ‘impact on community outreach and development from the racial justice movement’ and ‘concern for economic disparity, equity and inclusion’. There were many other ideas that caught our eye like urban agriculture, impact of state override of local zoning, growth in ’non-team’ recreation, etc. All are topics that cross local chapter boundaries.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey. We look forward to delivering programs through webinars initially, and in person when feasible, which cross chapter, region and national boundaries. While we started with seeking a response to delivering value to members during a pandemic, we are seeing this initiative happily evolve into realizing a part of the vision of the Global chapter. Thanks to Les Pollock and his committee for continuing to provide that inspiration.
