Economic growth in 2016 continues to be relatively modest. While employment gains have been strong, wages have not yet kept pace with employment growth. Productivity growth has been low and the civilian labor-force participation rate remains low. Many households, businesses, and communities can be expected to confront a challenging mix of structural and cyclical headwinds and uncertainties.
"The Imperative to Anticipate and Respond to Tech-Driven Disruption," published in the January/February 2016 edition of Urban Land, describes the role cities can serve in a time of exponential change and rapid tech-driven disruption to help improve private firms' productivity and enhance residents' quality of life and incomes.
