February 27, 2019

Committed to highlighting key trends affecting our local and global economy and impacting land economics, LAI Phoenix, in cooperation with LAI Sonora, hosted the leading Mexican maquiladora and export manufacturing council, Consejo Nacional de la Industria Maquiladora y Manufacturera de Exportación (“INDEX”). Utilizing “near shoring,” the States of Arizona and Sonora with their shared border have positioned themselves as one of the most competitive export manufacturing locations in the world. Touted as the “Mega-Region,” Arizona and Sonora, utilizing their collective resources, highly trained work forces, and strategic ports of entry, have a shared vision aimed at attracting high technology global manufacturers in a wide array of industries, including automotive, aerospace, medical, defense, and mining. INDEX plays a critical role in supporting Mexico’s maquiladora and export manufacturing industry. INDEX’s mission is to represent with efficiency and professionalism the maquiladora and export manufacturing industry, through quality actions and services, to ensure that Mexico is a leader in the global economy.
