Office Use Survey Results – LAI International Webinar

LAI International held a webinar on the Future of the Retail Mall on October 30, 2020. There were 80 attendees from over twenty chapters in the US, Canada, UK and Spain. Most would work in the FIRE (Fire, Insurance and Real Estate) sector.
During the webinar we asked two questions:
- If you used to work outside the home in an office or work at an office now, what % of workers are at the office on a typical day (48 respondents), and
- What % do you expect in the office in six months (i.e. on April 30, 2021) (51 respondents).
Respondents estimated that an average of 25% of workers are at their offices on a typical day in late October 2020, and they expect 38% will typically be at work in the office on April 30, 2021.
While there is an expectation for some return to prior occupancy levels, overall the LAI group sees this as a slow return over the next few months, with a very wide range of experience now, and expectations in 6 months (see Chart).
