LAI COMMITTEES:

Lambda Alpha International committees provide members with common interests an outlet to engage, exchange ideas, and contribute efforts that will not only support the society but will advance the practice of land economics. Serving on a committee is a two-year commitment.

Gatherings:

Plans, coordinates, and hosts the annual three-day Land Economics Gathering. The committee also identifies opportunities for increased attendance and engagement and provides recommendations to the Board of Governors.

The Gatherings Committee has prime responsibility for in-person gatherings, including the annual Land Economics Gathering and regional events. Committee objectives are:

Develop Multi-Year Schedule of Annual Land Economics Gatherings

Annual Gatherings are planned several years in advance. They are hosted by local chapters who plan programming to highlight important projects and programs in their area. They are seminal events for the organization.

Support Local Chapter Hosts of Land Economic Gatherings to Ensure their Success

Participate and support local chapter planning, including financial support and information on successful practices.

Encourage In-Person Special Events

LAI encourages in-person events such as regional seminars, multi-chapter or regional events, study tours, and professional advisory delegations (PAD).

Develop & Distribute Guidance for Planning Gatherings & Other In-Person Special Events

Develop guidance to support all types of Gatherings to help identify the types of LAI that would be helpful for program success. Reach out to chapters and committees to encourage scheduling events.

Develop Methods to Enhance Membership Benefits from Participation in In-Person Events

Take polls for feedback about each event help to better improve the benefits to attendees. Maintain efforts to continue to provide professional credits with affiliated organizations.

Budget to Sustain Goals & Objectives

Sustain and budget for incentive funding for LAI Gatherings and Special Events.
