Please join Lambda Alpha International’s Baltimore Chapter for our September Presentation featuring Donald Manekin, co-founder of Seawall Development in Baltimore discussing his new book, The Inside-Out Company: Putting Purpose and People First, a provocative challenge for leaders of every industry, written with Asha Myers.
Operating from the inside-out is a simple but radical shift in thinking from the commonly accepted top-down leadership models that exist in the business world. Through genuine listening and deep-rooted appreciation, inside-out leadership is transformational to both company culture and the communities they serve because it seeks to connect and empower people as stakeholders in the success of a singular purpose.
Donald Manekin shares his forty-five year journey exceeding expectations in the real estate industry. Through transparent and refreshing stories and strategies, this book helps awaken the reader to their own extraordinary potential, and inspires ideas for how to put those passions in service to others for many generations to come.
Donald is the co-founder of Seawall Development Company. He has worked on community-focused real estate development, civic leadership, and philanthropic missions in the Baltimore-Washington region for more than four decades, serving as the Senior Vice President of Manekin Corporation, the chief operating officer of the Baltimore City Schools, and graduate professor at Johns Hopkins University, M.I.T., and Loyola University Maryland.
As many of you will recall, Donald shared his insights in a panel discussion on “Beyond the Waterfront: Midtown Revitalization in Station North and Remington” with Charlie Duff (Jubilee) and Mike Molla (MICA) moderated by Kathleen Lane (AIA), at our Baltimore Land Economics Weekend in 2018. It was followed by a personalized and engaging walking tour of R. House and the Remington neighborhood.
The book is available at Amazon, other online retailers, and your favorite local bookstore, including by special order from Greedy Reads in Remington and Fells Point.
