Lambda Alpha Orange County presents:

Bill Hoffman, MA, PhD

“Visions of South Orange County: From Ranchos to Dream Cities to Planned Communities”

The lecture explores how South County evolved to look as it does today due to early visionaries, master-planned development and local government policies. From a national urban design perspective, South Orange County is a unique case study due to its large number of planned communities along with several cities that have evolved more incrementally.

Bill Hoffman is an educator, urban planner and tour guide who obtained his Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from UCLA where he specialized in historic district planning. He then earned his Ph.D. from UC Irvine in Social Ecology where he studied the evolution of public space in planned communities. Bill taught high school economics, psychology and Spanish for 37 years and lectured in city planning at UCI and UCLA. He currently runs an urban tour company called “Hoffy Tours”.
