There is growing consensus that the Metro Vancouver region is in the midst of a serious housing crisis. With home values soaring in recent years and rental vacancy rates near zero, housing affordability problems are impacting a broader range of income earners
In an unprecedented way, the stars have aligned to address this problem: all three levels of government are at the table with historic levels of funding and an array of strategic initiatives. Come hear how CMHC, BC Housing and the City of Vancouver have come together to partner with non-profit and private sectors to deliver affordable housing programs across a continuum, from homelessness to middle income families and seniors.
We'll ask our panel (Michael Flanigan, Vice President, Development, BC Housing; Lance Jakubec, Affordable Housing Specialist, CMHC; and Gil Kelley, General Manager, Planning, Urban Design and Sustainability, City of Vancouver) to tackle some difficult questions: How sustainable are these programs? How much of the problem do they address? What are the implications for the market housing sector? What should municipalities and housing providers be thinking about as we approach the next election?
The evening promises a lively discussion with the top minds engaged in solving these challenges.  Please join us!
