LAI MN’s October 22nd program explores a new model for housing stability in urban locations
Join the LAI Minnesota Chapter in downtown Minneapolis for a program and site visit showcasing Exodus, an innovative permanent supportive housing development transforming a former downtown residential building into 72 deeply affordable studio homes with comprehensive on-site supportive services. Developed by Aeon in partnership with St. Olaf Catholic Church and Touchstone Mental Health, Exodus represents a significant investment in addressing homelessness and housing instability in Minneapolis.
Exodus is currently under substantial re-construction and features a comprehensive rehabilitation of the existing structure and a new eight-story addition, creating modern studio apartments with private kitchens and bathrooms, shared community spaces, fitness facilities, outdoor green space, and dedicated supportive service offices.
Program highlights will include:
- Listen and participate in a panel discussion featuring AEON CEO Rachel Robinson and Ellie Skelton, CEO of Touchtone Mental Health
- The story behind the adaptive reuse and expansion of the existing building
- Insights into the development, financing, and public-private partnerships that made the project possible
- Discussion of permanent supportive housing as a tool for community and economic vitality and the potential use as a model for other urban rehabilitation and in-fill developments
