THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS ITEM WILL BE INTRODUCED DURING THE ANNUAL MEETING:

The Simcoe Chapter is currently not an incorporated body. For a number of reasons, including the fact that a number of LAI’s U.S. Chapters are incorporated and there are potential issues with respect to liability resulting from Chapter events (such as dinner events, field trips and the Land Economics Weekend to be held in Toronto on September 22-24, 2016), the Board of Directors are now recommending that the Simcoe Chapter be incorporated as a non-profit entity.

A motion will be considered at the Chapter’s Annual Meeting, which will be held at the University Club of Toronto on December 1, 2015, to authorize the Board of Directors to pursue incorporation of the Simcoe Chapter of Lambda Alpha International as a non-profit entity and to obtain any necessary insurance policies typical of such similar non-profit corporations.

If this motion is adopted, annual Chapter dues may be marginally increased to cover the incorporation costs and such other costs ancillary to the incorporation.
