Annual Meeting & Summer Outing 2024
Annual Meeting November 20, 2024 with keynote speaker Annual Meeting 2024 with keynote speaker Claudia Jolin, Executive Director, Baltimore Peninsula Community Benefits District, held at the Rye Street Tavern. LAI Baltimore 2024 Chapter Member of the Year was presented to Sean Davis, Morris & Ritchie Associates, Inc., for his dedicated service on our Programs Committee. Inducted new LAI members. Chapter made a donation of $2,500 to Chris and Pam Wilson of Hope Village and $2,500 to Nickolas Wisniewski of The Compound.
During our Summer Outing on July 17 2024, LAI toured two innovative housing developments Hope Village and The Compound. Hope Village is a 13-unit Tiny House project that offers a path to homeownership to formerly homeless, working people. Chris and Pam Wilson have been providing meals for the children of homeless families for years. Local entrepreneur and developer, Mark Sapperstein, pledged to underwrite the majority of the project’s costs. And we toured The Compound, an artist residence and workspace created through hard work, tenacity, and grant writing. The Compound constructed several Net Zero townhouses with 16 work/live studios for artists. LAI members and guests enjoyed an informative presentation, tour, and summer meal at The Compound thanks to its Founder and Board Member Nickolas Wisniewski.





















Annual Meeting & Summer Outing 2023
Annual Meeting November 16, 2023 with keynote speaker P. David Bramble, Managing Partner, Co-Founder of MCB Real Estate, held at Woodberry Kitchen. LAI Baltimore 2023 Chapter Member of the Year was presented to Kim LiPira for her dedicated service as our board member. Inducted new LAI members. Chapter made a donation of $5000 to Farmer Chippy and Farmer Tiara with Plantation Park Heights Urban Farm.
On July 19, 2023 we learned about Plantation Park Heights Urban Farm with Executive Director Richard Francis – Farmer Chippy – who took members around the six-acre site that had previously been vacant and in Baltimore City during our LAI Baltimore Summer Outing. The farm is now an oasis providing fresh produce to residents and a safe space and structure for neighborhood youth. Read LAI Member Joe Nathanson’s The Daily Record column for more details. LAI also visited Joe Shaffer and Tom Baum, owner of Hidden Waters Farm and Market, who are committed to regenerative agriculture and healthy ecosystems. A presentation, plus a delicious meal, was shared at this 110-acre organic farm.



























































Annual Meeting & Summer Outing 2022
LAI Baltimore celebrated our 30th Anniversary as a chapter at our November 16, 2022 Annual Meeting at Rusty Scupper. Thank you to our keynote speaker Jayson Williams of Mayson-Dixon Companies. We inducted new members. Congratulations to our new President Elect Michael Cordes! We are pleased to announce our $5000 charitable donation to SOS Fund of Fight Blight Bmore. And special congratulations to our awardees:

Our Summer Outing took place on July 20, 2022 with a Lexington Market Presentation and Tour given by Paul W. Ruppert, President & CEO, Baltimore Public Markets Corporation.
























Annual Meeting and Summer Outing 2021
Our LAI Baltimore Annual Meeting held on December 8, 2021 at 111 S. Calvert Street, Tenant Lounge & Sky Terrace. A tribute in memory of David B. Rudow who passed away October 4, 2021 and will be very much missed by all of us in LAI and we extend our condolences to his son Steve Rudow. New member inducted and board slate appointed. Matthew Kimball was presented the 2021 Chapter Member of the Year Award. Keynote Speaker Daniel P. Henson, President & Founder, The Henson Development Company, discussed his company’s current projects in Baltimore.
Summer Outing and Bike Ride held on July 22, 2021 joining LAI Baltimore members and the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy for an evening ride along the Baltimore Greenway Trail Network! We showcased some key spots along the southeast segment of trail network, highlighted recent progress, and gave a firsthand glimpse of this future trail corridor. Starting at Monument City Brewing Company, we made our way down to Canton Waterfront Park. From there we doubled back to our original starting point along the same route. And ended up at Monument City Brewing at 5pm for food, drink and networking.

Annual Meeting and Summer Outing 2020
On December 9, 2020 LAI Baltimore Annual Meeting was held virtually due to covid-19 with Keynote speaker Melody Simmons, real estate reporter for the Baltimore Business Journal. The event included the President’s Chapter update, 2020 Chapter Member of the Year Award presentation to Nathan Betnun, new member induction, introduction of Slate of Officers, as well as virtual happy hour with special cocktail recipes.
Due to covid-19, we held our Summer Outing virtually on July 22, 2020 with Kevin Lindamond, President & CEO, Health Care for the Homeless, and Dan McCarthy, Executive Director, Episcopal Housing Corporation, on healthcare for the homeless in Baltimore.
Annual Meeting and Summer Outing 2019
Our Annual Dinner Meeting held on November 20, 2019 at Chiapparelli’s Restaurant were we welcomed new members, election of board slate, and the 2019 Chapter Member of the Year Award was presented to James Leanos. Keynote speaker was Bob Perciasepe, President of the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions.
Our Summer Outing held at Middle Branch Park Boathouse featured Brad Rogers, Executive Director, South Baltimore Gateway Partnership, update on Middle Branch Waterfront Design Competition. The Middle Branch Waterfront will be Baltimore’s next great recreational & natural waterfront, with water & land-based attractions along 11 miles of the Patapsco River shoreline connected within a network of parks & trails. Three top landscape architecture firms are competing for the chance to design the Middle Branch Waterfront. You can check out the design concepts in-person or online here or read more about it here.
We included a nonprofit organization with our summer outing featuring a presentation by Jenn Aiosa, Executive Director of Blue Water Baltimore. She is a long-time member of Maryland’s environmental community, having worked on science and policy issues for several organizations.






Annual Meeting and Summer Outing 2018
Our Annual Dinner Meeting held on November 14, 2018 at Blue Hill Tavern 938 S Conkling Street, Baltimore, MD 21224 with induction of new members, new board slate, and presented 2018 Chapter Member of Year Award to Susannah Bergmann. Keynote speaker Benjamin Seigel, Baltimore Development Corporation’s Baltimore Opportunity Zones Coordinator. Prior to BDC, Ben joined Johns Hopkins University as the inaugural executive director of the 21st Century Cities Initiative, an applied research and partnership building program that brings together interdisciplinary researchers with city partners to strengthen policies focused on improving distressed communities.
On July 18, 2018 we hosted our Annual Summer Outing at the Sandlot in Harbor Point. Sandlot is Baltimore’s beach: local food, games for all, cold drinks, and epic sunset selfies – the coolest place to be on a hot summer day, the hottest place to be on a cool summer night. We enjoyed a food, beverages, and a special presentation by Chef Spike Gjerde. His hard work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Food & Wine, Food Arts, Esquire, Southern Living, Garden & Gun and The Washington Post. In 2013 and 2014, Gjerde was named a finalist for the James Beard Foundation’s “Best Chef, Mid-Atlantic” award. In 2015, Spike became the first Baltimore chef to bring home the award. Annual Meeting and Summer Outing 2017
November 15, 2017 LAI Baltimore Chapter hosted its Annual Meeting Dinner – celebrating the Chapter’s 25th year – with our keynote speaker Christopher Leinberger at the Engineering Society in the historic Mt. Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore.
We welcome new members, new board slate, and kudos to Tara Clifford, as Chair of the Awards Committee, who presented Rachel Edds with a well-deserved Baltimore 2017 Chapter Member of the Year Award! And a Special Chapter Award to “Transform Baltimore” was presented to Tom Stosur and Laurie Feinberg of the Baltimore Department of Planning in recognition of their leadership and dedication planning for Baltimore’s future. Transform is Baltimore’s new zoning code adopted December 5, 2016. (Fellow LAI member Les Pollock’s Chicago based firm Camiros Ltd. was hired as consultant). Prior to Transform, the Baltimore City Zoning Code was last comprehensively updated in 1971. Thanks to Bob Madden for our photography.

We hosted our LAI Annual Dinner Meeting at the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Hotel, 550 Light Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21202. This well attended event included induction of many new members, board slate and presentation of 2016 Chapter Member of the Year Award to Josef Nathanson.
