Come hear from two seasoned experts currently employing these strategies on their projects that are built and under construction.
Suzanne Brown (Equity Community Builders) will share her experience building the new San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Designed by Mark Cavagnero Associates, this $170M project includes student housing, faculty housing, and rental housing, in addition to music and cultural education facilities and recital halls.
If its innovative and related to housing, Patrick Kennedy (Panoramic Interests) has likely built it. Mr. Kennedy will share his experience and wisdom from being one of the Bays few developers that have successfully utilized modular, co-living, student housing, and the State Density Program to deliver higher quality and more affordable housing to the Bay Area.
Suzanne Brown
Suzanne Brown joined Equity Community Builders in 2005 as a Project Manager and became a Principal in 2014. Ms. Browns energy and passion for the community is evident in her work and personal life. As an advocate for sustainable design and construction, she has managed numerous LEED projects including two LEED Platinum buildings. Prior to ECB she worked for Swinerton.
Ms. Brown received her B.S in Civil Engineering with a minor in Architecture in 1992 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York and her Masters in Structural Engineering in 1997 from Georgia Tech in Atlanta. She holds both Professional Engineer and Structural Engineer licenses in California.
Patrick Kennedy
Patrick Kennedy is the owner of Panoramic Interests, a development firm that has been building housing, live-work space, and commercial property in the Bay Area since 1990. The firm has focused on dense, mixed-use, mixed-income, infill developments, typically financed with private funds. All of the multi-family housing projects include below market rate units.
The firms projects incorporate the Smart Growth principles designed to discourage auto use, mitigate sprawl, encourage local business, and enhance the pedestrian streetscape.
Mr. Kennedy grew up in the East Bay, and attended Claremont McKenna College, majoring in Economics and English. After college, he worked as a contractor, and then attended Harvard Law School and MIT, graduating with a J.D. and a Masters in Real Estate Development. Early development work included building his own house, and renovating several small commercial properties.
He is a former member of the Carpenters Union and Steelworkers Union, and the California Bar.
