Lambda Alpha International's members represent a diverse group of professional disciplines in fields related to the ownership and use of land and buildings. We invite new members interested in contributing their expertise and experience to our ongoing discourse and activities. Membership is by invitation only. Each chapter has its own procedures governing the nominating and vetting process of new members. Nominees not located near an existing chapter are vetted through the International Board of Governors.
The criteria for membership specify that nominees: have achieved professional distinction, with a minimum of ten years of work experience, and made an outstanding contribution to the lives in the community through public service.
Membership is by invitation only, but we welcome the interest of men and women experienced in the land professions.
Practically, a person must have made an outstanding or noteworthy contribution to his or her profession and community and must have distinguished him or herself in academic pursuits. Candidates must have at least ten years of work experience in their field to be considered for membership.

Each year we request nominations to Lambda Alpha International, by having members propose candidates to the Membership Committee. The Board subsequently reviews the proposed nominee applications considered by the Membership Committee, and approves the candidate, assuming the nominee meets all qualifications.
New member nominations occur on a semi-annual basis so that qualified members are not delayed in participating in Lambda Alpha International functions. Once approved, an Initiation Ceremony is held at a luncheon or dinner to initiate the new members and meet other members of the Chapter.
