Jerry Dobrovolny, Commissioner and Chief Administrative Officer Metro Vancouver

LAI Vancouver invites you to join us for our second virtual gathering, an opportunity to hear about the short and long-term implications of the regional response to COVID-19. We are delighted to be joined by Jerry Dobrovolny, who will share the challenges and changes experienced by Metro Vancouver.

As the regional federation of 21 municipalities, one Treaty First Nation and one Electoral Area working together for a livable region, Metro Vancouver plays a key role in delivering fundamental services to residents and businesses in the Lower Mainland. The Metro Vancouver Board Strategic Plan 2019-2022 guides three broad roles: serve as a regional federation; deliver core services; and plan for the region.

Although the regional district’s important role in providing key infrastructure is often unsung, it is central to the smooth functioning of many aspects of our day-to-day lives. Given the turbulence that the COVID-era has wrought over the past eight months, how is the regional government responding and adapting? Have unexpected opportunities arisen? Is the new normal altering the original direction of the 2019-2022 Strategic Plan that was prepared in the long ago pre-COVID times?
