The new St. Paul’s Hospital at the Jim Pattison Medical Centre is one of the largest hospital redevelopments in Canadian history.
Situated on 18.4 acres in Vancouver’s False Creek Flats, the hospital and health campus will lead in the delivery of B.C.’s patient-centered model for health care by providing the highest-quality, integrated, compassionate care, where and when it’s needed most.
At a projected cost of $2.174 billion, construction is slated to complete in 2026, and the new hospital will be fully open to patients in 2027. The entire campus will be fully integrated with the surrounding community by improving street layouts, and creating a new Wellness walk and cycling pathways that will connect the neighbourhoods of Strathcona, Chinatown, False Creek Flats and north east False Creek. A clinical support and research centre and a daycare will also open in 2027. Future developments at the health campus may include an Indigenous Wellness Centre, further office and medical space, a hotel and/or housing.
The redevelopment will have a significant impact on the city and region from a range of perspectives. LAI Vancouver is delighted for the opportunity to hear from Rhonda Lui and Dave Ingram from Providence Health Care about this important redevelopment project.
